Three Signs of Summer!

Three Signs of Summer!

There are three things that signal the start to summer: 1) The first time you catch a whiff of the unmistakable smell of a backyard barbecue. 2) The first time you hear the Mister Softee jingle from a passing ice cream truck (and it’s stuck in your head for the next six hours) and 3) when the Brooklyn Cyclones take the field for the first time.

The Cyclones have called MCU Park on Coney Island home since 2001 and have been creating a three-hour long block party ever since. Whether it’s the dancing on the dugout, countless fireworks shows, great theme nights and giveaways, kids run the bases or just an unbeatable view – there is something for everyone at “The Most Fun Ballpark in America.”

This season, the team has added a few new wrinkles to the already jam-packed schedule, including some fun for the over 21 crowd.  Each Saturday, extra thirsty fans can take advantage of the BasebALL You Can Drink package which includes seating in the Backyard area of the ballpark – complete with corn hole, shuffle board and lounge chairs – as well as two and a half hours of bottomless beer, wine, mixed drinks, soda and water.  But it’s never good to drink on an empty stomach, of course, so the package also includes food vouchers good for yummy ballpark snacks like hot dogs and chicken tenders.  You get all this, plus a souvenir cap, for just $45.

While that offering may be new, the team year-after-year continues to have a jam-packed promotional schedule with something for everyone.  Where to begin?  There is the special Family Sunday events like Super Hero Day featuring Captain America Bobbleheads on July 2nd or Touch a Truck Day on July 23rd with a toy truck give away for kids.  There’s the nostalgic nights like 90s Night where the team will wear special Doug themed jerseys and have a Quailman Bobblehad offer.  The team will also have an appearance from Squints Paladoris from the classic baseball movie The Sandlot.  Oh, and there’s also Villain Appreciation Night with a Shooter McGavin appearance and bobblehead and of course the 4th Annual Seinfeld Night with an appearance from Jackie Chiles.
