Three New Restaurants Opening On Foster Avenue; Victorian Flatbush Counter In Progress
Three new businesses are opening up on Foster Avenue, and while they’re all still at preliminary stages — empty interiors, drywall construction, plumbing, and menu planning — we scoped out some preliminary details to match.
1. Restaurant at 1715 Foster Avenue
A new restaurant is set to open at 1715 Foster Avenue between East 17th Street and East 18th Street, the former home of La Crepe Et La Vie, which was shuttered last year for operating with an expired food permit.
There is a lot of work going on at the storefront, with beautiful, bright purple paint lining the walls and a new interior. The owner has been hard at work and will update as we learn more. Supportive neighbors have speculated that the menu is likely to be West Indian-themed, but right now we’re being kept in suspense. We’re looking forward to seeing what develops.
2. Cafe at 1205-1207 Foster Avenue
At this double-storefront between Westminster and Argyle Roads, old signs have been moved and drywall installed, said a neighbor who caught a peek of the inside. The owner told us that she’ll be unveiling a coffee shop and cafe, and will provide more details as the opening date nears.
This address used to be home to a gift shop and hair piece center, now it looks like the two storefronts will be combined into one larger eatery.
3. Restaurant at 1501 Foster Avenue
Property owners confirmed that new renters are coming in at 1501 Foster Avenue at the corner of Marlborough Road, near Newkirk Plaza. This used to be the home of New Gram Bangla, a Bengali/Pakistani/Indian grocery that served Halal meat.

And in the continued storefront saga —
1. Victorian Flatbush Counter at 161 Cortelyou Road is…still in progress, says Adell the owner. Updates to come soon, he promised.
In June, he told DPC that the new Café Madeline extension will be open from 8am until midnight and will feature a full juice bar, 20 craft beers on tap, taps serving wine and Grady’s cold brew, and a curated selection of bottles, cans, and local provisions.
Here’s a peek inside from this morning:
“We welcome people to hang out as long as they want,” Adell said. Looks like there will be a lot of tables to park laptops or gather with friends.
