This Week’s Events Picks For Brooklyn Kids
Looking for something to do with the whole family this week? There are a lot of great kid-friendly events coming up in Brooklyn, and we’ve selected some of our favorites. See the full details below!
If you’re looking for something to do with the kids on Wednesday, which is Veterans Day, do note that all branches of the Brooklyn Public Library will be closed for the holiday.

CENTRAL BROOKLYN
Veterans Day Activities
When: Wednesday, November 11, 12-5pm
Where: Various locations in Prospect Park
What: The park is ready for those kids who are off from school! Show off your bird nerd status, meet some creatures, explore nature and more at the Audubon Center; take a ride on the beautiful carousel; compete in a potato sack race; and more.
How Much: Most activities are free, though the carousel requires tickets, and the event at the Lefferts Historic House has a $3 suggested donation.
Story Crafts
When: Thursday, November 12, 3:30pm
Where: Pacific Library, 25 4th Avenue, Park Slope
What: Kids are invited to listen to a story, and then make a craft.

Kids Create
When: Thursday, November 12, 4pm
Where: Cortelyou Library, 1305 Cortelyou Road, Ditmas Park
What: An arts and crafts program for children between the ages of 6 and 12.
How Much: Free!
First Five Years Story And Play
When: Friday, November 13, 12pm
Where: Kensington Library, 4207 18th Avenue
What: Kids from birth to age five (and their caregivers) will hear stories and play with toys.
How Much: Free, but space is limited — pick up a ticket at the Children’s Reference Desk between 11:30am and 12pm , or call 718-436-0545 for more information.
Story Time: Robo-Sauce
When: Saturday, November 14, 11am
Where: Greenlight Bookstore, 686 Fulton Street, Fort Greene
What: Local author Adam Rubin reads his new book, Robo-Sauce, a book that transforms into a super-shiny metal robo-book!

9th Annual Children’s Book Fair
When: Saturday, November 14, 12-4pm
Where: Brooklyn Museum, 200 Eastern Parkway
What: Kids (and grown-ups!) can meet some awesome Brooklyn authors and illustrators and enjoy hands-on art activities.

Parallel Exit: Wham, Slam And Bam!
When: Saturday, November 14, 1pm
Where: Central Library, Dweck Center, 10 Grand Army Plaza, Park Slope
What: An audience of all ages should expect quite a show — including music, magic, juggling, and comedy — when physical comedians Parallel Exit hit the stage.

Jon Samson Family Concert
When: Saturday, November 14, 3pm
Where: Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, 58 7th Avenue, Park Slope
What: Jon Samson, an award-winning musician who’s also a music therapist, will perform tunes from his latest, called “A New Kids Album.”
How Much: Tickets are $5-$20, and can be purchased here.
Story Time: Little Elliot, Big Family

Where: powerHouse on 8th, 1111 8th Avenue, South Slope
What: Hear the second book in a series about a polka-dotted elephant as read by its Brooklyn-based author and illustrator, Mike Curato.

What: In honor of Native American Heritage Month, kids ages 5-17 are invited to create a dream catcher while learning about the culture and music of Native Americans.
