This Weekend’s Open House Picks
We’ve rounded up some of the more interesting open houses happening in and around Ditmas Park this Sunday. Any thoughts on these places?
385 East 18th Street, #5L
List Price: $249,000
Size: Studio
Details: At 560 square feet, this studio has room. From the photos, there seems to be a decent-sized living area, plus a modern looking kitchen. There’s a small dining area, a bathroom with a window, and a separate dressing room with two closets. We’re liking the arches and the built-in shelves, plus the high ceilings. If you have a cat – great! They’re welcome. Otherwise, no other furry friends are. There’s a common laundry room and a live-in super. You’re close to Cortelyou Road, which means lots of shopping and restaurants nearby, and you’re two blocks to the Q train.
Open House: Sunday, July 27 from 12-1:30pm
25 Stratford Road, #D2
List Price: $349,000
Size: Two bedrooms, one bath
Details: Disappointingly, this listing only comes with a photo of the outside of the building – and, according to the realtor, this co-op “is in need of a complete renovation.” So… this place is definitely going to end up costing more than $349,000. Still, it’s more than 1,000 square feet in a pre-war building on Stratford at Caton, which means you’re across the street from the Parade Ground, super close to Prospect Park, and a stone’s throw from shopping and restaurants on Church and Flatbush Avenues. According to the listing, “you can easily make this into a three bedroom if you choose.” Also, there’s an income restriction on this place – so be sure to ask the agent about that.
Open House: Sunday, July 27 from 12-1pm
5 Stratford Road, #4
List Price:
Size: Two bedrooms, one bathroom
Details: It doesn’t say how many square feet this place is, but it looks super cute, with its French doors, crown moldings, and ceiling medallions. There’s an open-plan living and dining area, and the master bedroom seems to get lots of light with its three windows. The kitchen looks a little tight, but, hey, it has a window, so that makes it a little more breathable. Plus, there’s a common courtyard and garden, and the spot is pet friendly. You’re right by Prospect Park and just down the block from shopping and restaurants on Church Avenue, as well as the B/Q subway stop.
Open House:
List Price: $1,588,000
Size: Seven bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms
Details: This Victorian home is huge and lovely. It sits on a 60- x 100-foot corner lot surrounded by oak, maple, and dogwood trees. The home, where the same extended family has lived for the past 40 years, has a total of 14 (14!) rooms, including seven bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, two kitchens, a den, an office, and a semi-finished basement. There are also two wood-burning fireplaces, a front porch, a rear deck and terrace, and a two-car garage. But there is a lot that might need updating, from wall-to-wall carpeting to the outdated kitchen. You’re not far from the Newkirk B/Q subway stop, and you’re a stroll away from the shops and restaurants on Cortelyou Road.
