This Weekend’s Open House Picks
Here’s the regular roundup of open houses around the neighborhood this weekend. What do you think of the properties this time around?
HOUSES• 394 East 8th St packs five bedrooms, two bathrooms and a century of history at $799,999. The interior is warm and while the exterior pictures that the realtors provide are iffy at best, Google Maps Street View looks better (pictured above) with more flattering shots of the house.
Open house: Saturday, September 29, 11-1pm by appointment only. Call Aguayo & Huebener at 718-788-8200 or Andrew Faria at 646-427-7806 and ask about H-394J.
• 10 Slocum Place #4F is a great example of just how much of a difference it can make to be on the eastern side of Coney Island Avenue. At 1529 square feet, it’s listed at $649,000 with three bedrooms and 2.5 bedrooms. The building sports a garage, fitness center, a large family pharmacy and store opening up in the next two weeks. We will post a tour of the new facility on Monday.
Open house: Sunday, September 30, 1-3pm
• 385 E. 16th Street #4C, on the other hand, is an example of what happens to prices when you are east of the Q. The 2-bed, 1-bath has been on the market for $385,000 since May. It’s newly renovated and a hop and a skip from the Cortelyou Road station. Want to bring pets? “Officially no,” says the listing, “but lots of cats and dogs in building.” Interesting.
Open house: Sunday, September 30, 1-2pm
• 616 East 18th Street has come down in price to $240,000. It has been on the market since May for $305,000, maintenance $548. It’s a 1-bed, 1-bath with an updated kitchen and common laundry. The most appealing detail is the sizable backyard with plenty of green.
