This week in Ditmas Park, we prayed that presidential contenders Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders will have their Brooklyn debate at the Kings Theatre, Magnolias, Forsythias, and Cherry Trees came into bloom, and a massive wind storm knocked several trees to the ground.

• After striking for at least a fifth time last weekend, police continue to pursue a suspect wanted in a string of violent incidents targeting elderly women.
• A vigil In Little Pakistan honored victims of the Easter terrorist attacks.
• Two drastically different accounts have emerged regarding the arrest of a woman in Flatbush last week.
• Our very own PS 179 is helping to pioneer a new approach to teaching English to children who speak another language at home.
• A local hookah lounge could feel the impact of heightened attention from lawmakers.
• Butterfunk Kitchen — a “Soul Food Restaurant & Juke Joint” at Prospect and Greenwood Avenues — has just opened.
• Following an uproar at P.S. 193 over a parent’s controversial arrest, the Department of Education (DOE) has removed the teacher involved in the incident.
• A literacy program that serves — and empowers — immigrant women in our community may be in danger of closing.
• Spike Lee and Susan Sarandon filmed a TV commercial at Brooklyn College for presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
