Here’s a recap of what happened last week:

• After decades in the neighborhood, we said goodbye to John’s.

• We also bid adieu to The Dogwood, but said hello to Hunger Pang.

• Speaking of Hunger Pang, the owner told us about their food, drinks, and the importance of giving back to his community.

• Neighbors have noticed what seems like more tickets being handed out for people walking, or biking, through the Parade Grounds at night.

• A judge dismissed a 42nd Assembly District candidate’s lawsuit to boot another candidate from the primary ballot.

• In more campaign news, candidates faced off in a debate.

• We searched for a home for a cat abandoned on the sidewalk.

A shooting was reported near Caton Avenue and St. Pauls Court.

• A 23-year-old man was charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting a neighbor in the head.

• Erv’s on Beekman, which will be a café by day and bar by night, celebrated its soft opening.

Free music, a harvest festival, volunteering and more to do at Prospect Park this month.

• And, finally, we ushered in the new school year!
