Help Typhoon Yolanda Survivors At A Purple Yam Fundraising Brunch
Since Typhoon Yolanda (aka Typhoon Haiyan) touched down in the Phillipines last Friday, nearly 1,000 people have been confirmed dead, survivors have been struggling with meager resources, and buildings and homes have been destroyed. Our thoughts are with neighbors and their loved ones affected by the storm today.
Here’s a little light in the dark, though: Purple Yam‘s Chef Romy Dorotan, Amy Besa, and friends are helping survivors get back on their feet by hosting two fundraiser brunches. The brunches, both 11am-4pm on Sundays November 17 and November 24, are $40 per guest, with all proceeds going to Yolanda relief efforts.
Reservations are suggested, so call 718-940-8188 or email bettyannquirino@gmail.com. If you are unable to attend the brunches, or if you’d like to help in some other way, The New York Times has a great list of resources besides Purple Yam’s generous deed.
