Third Indian Restaurant, Curry Place, Opens In Fort Greene

Valentine’s Day certainly brought a little more spice into Fort Greene, with the grand opening of Curry Place at 330 Myrtle Avenue (between the park and Clermont Avenue).

As mentioned last month when the “coming soon” sign went up, Curry Place offers the typical eat-in, take-out, and delivery options and joins fellow Indian food restaurants Kinara (368 Myrtle Avenue) and Amin (235 DeKalb Avenue, off Clermont Avenue).

The menu includes the standard fare of hot appetizers (pakoras, samosas, kebabs, and breads — poori, naan, and papadom), soups, plenty of vegetarian-friendly options, plenty of chicken and lamb and seafood, and, of course, the curries.

At first glance, there are actually a couple more curries listed than we usually find at New York City Indian eateries, which is a good thing considering the restaurant’s name. We’re curious to try the Dildar Curry and Fish and Mushroom Curries.

Prices also fall in the under-$10 category for most items, and the lunch specials look like a good option.

According to its first Yelp reviewer, Jeffrey T., the food is good enough for him to have visited twice already and he found the staff to be “very friendly and helpful navigating the menu  and following up with good service.” He also notes the BYOB policy, at least until the owners get their liquor license.

Curry Place is open weekdays for lunch (12-3:30pm) and dinner (3:30-10:30pm), and Fridays/Saturdays from 12-11pm.

Delivery is available with a $12 minimum order, by calling 718-522-3828.
