In Daniel Torday’s novel The Last Flight of Poxl West, a teenager’s romantic vision of his uncle, the WWII fighter pilot of the title, is tested when he learns the darker truths of his wartime experiences. George Saunders calls Dacey one of his “favorite young American authors”, and Torday’s book has been called “an utterly accomplished novel” by the New York Times Book Review; Greenlight is honored to host these two up and coming writers for a reading, discussion and wine reception.

Laura van den Berg’s Find Me, her followup to two acclaimed story collections, centers on Joy, who spends her days working the graveyard shift at a grocery store outside Boston — until a sickness that begins with memory loss and ends with death sweeps the country, and Joy’s immunity to the disease offers her a chance of escape. Smith and van den Berg discuss their work and the landscape of American fiction tonight at Greenlight.
