Kids Create: Collage Bookmarks

What: Kids will get crafty with recycled materials to make slim pieces of art that are also useful — they can save their place in all those library books they’re borrowing.

Creative Writing

What: Kids ages 7-11 will write and share their work with each other, learning confidence — as well as the power of their own stories.

Family Movies @ The Library: Inside Out

Alex Mitnick & The Kaleidoscope

What: Lots of adventures await in the songs of Emmy award-winning children’s entertainer Alex Mitnick, who will be at the library for a fun concert.

Celebrate Diwali: The Festival Of Lights!
When: Saturday, November 7, 2:30pm
Where: Central Library, Dweck Center, 10 Grand Army Plaza, Park Slope
What: The festival, celebrated in India and throughout the world, is coming up, and families are invited to celebrate at the library, where they’ll be doing an event featuring stories, dancing, crafts.

Story Time: Wolfie The Bunny
When: Sunday, November 8, 11:30am
Where: powerHouse on 8th, 1111 8th Avenue, South Slope
What: Hear the tale of the Bunny family, which has adopted a wolf son — who might eat them all up! — as told by the author of the book, Ame Dyckman.

“ROAR” Book Signing And Reading
When: Saturday, November 8, 4pm
Where: Lark Cafe, 1007 Church Avenue, Ditmas Park
What: Which is it cooler to be: a dragon or a little boy? That’s the crux of the issue in this new picture book, whose Brooklyn-based illustrator, Liz Starin, will be on hand to read and sign copies of.

Stutengarten Brooklyn

What: Tuesdays & Thursdays playgroup! Parents and/or caregivers can bring their babies (infants and toddlers) for play and socializing.

DIY with Duct Tape

What: Most people use duct tape to fix things, but you can use it to make something new! Come and make wallets, decorate pencils, or create creatures and flowers with duct tape!

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6

Toddler Time

What: Stories, songs, fingerplays, puppets, and fun for toddlers and caregivers!

Ready, Set, Kindergarten!
When: Friday, November 6 at 11am
Where: Bedford Library at 496 Franklin Avenue
What: For children ages 3-5 and their caregivers. In this special six session series, families enjoy stories & activities designed to encourage the development of early learning practices. Exploring literacy, science, & math through music, stories, and more.

Babies and Books
When: Friday, November 6 at 11:15am
Where: Clinton Hill LIbrary at 380 Washington Avenue
What: Storytime is for babies, too! Come sing, play, hear stories, and meet with other parents and caregivers.

Build with LEGOS and DUPLOS
When: Friday, November 6 at 4pm
Where: Clinton Hill Library at 380 Washington Avenue
What: Come help us think up new things to build – towers, house, cities, vehicles, monsters? Collaborate with your friends and get creative. Babies, toddlers, and preschoolers will also have their own play area at the library with DUPLO blocks galore!

Kids Corner at Target First Saturday
When: Saturday, November 7 at 8:15pm
Where: Brooklyn Museum at 200 Eastern Parkway
What: Children recognize their culturally diverse neighborhoods in an interactive reading by Selina Alko, author of B Is for Brooklyn, a mixed-media collage storybook. From 12-8pm, there are also live music and a cookbook signing that is appropriate for children.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 9

Preschool Storytime
When: Monday, November 9 at 10:30am
Where: Clinton Hill Library at 380 Washington Avenue
What: A read-aloud for preschool-aged kids. Groups and classes are welcome to attend (please contact the children’s librarian, Emily Heath, at 718-398-8713 to let us know ahead of time that you will be bringing a group, if possible.

Where: Clinton Hill Library at 380 Washington Avenue
What: An informal get together to skill swap and show & tell about your creative projects in an inspiring environment with other creative like-minded people. You bring your own creative project and ideas and we will provide a cup of tea/coffee and a pastry.

Homework Help

What: Get homework help for children in grades k-8.

dou yoga kids yogaPlay and Learn with Kids Yoga
When: Monday, November 8 from 3:30-4:45pm
Where: Dou Yoga at 214 Greene Avenue
What: Through circus arts and creative play, Mindful Movement introduces children to the mindfulness based yoga principles in a fun, child-centered weekly experience. Through the use of props, partner poses and music, participants will build group connections and individual core strength while having a ball. Come with your little one and stretch, dance, balance and most importantly play! Everyone has a place on the mat! Together we will go from silly to calm as we build this creative space we build together.

What: The courtyard is transformed into an into a toddler wonderland complete with toys, a water table and supervised art projects geared towards children 4 and under. Come meet your neighbors and watch your kids make new friends.

What: Hear stories, sing songs and play with other children.  Ages 0-5

Read To Me
When: Tuesday, November 10 at 3:30pm
Where: Walt Whitman Library at 93 Saint Edwards Street
What: Kids ages 8-12 practice reading aloud.  Vocabulary, comprehension, pronunciation and annunciation are emphasized.
