What: Acclaimed saxophonist Jay Rodriguez joins Grammy-nominated jazz legends Groove Collective and special guests to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the touchstone album and documentary, Stolen Moments: Red Hot + Cool. Named 1994’s record of the year by TIME Magazine, the album, along with an accompanying film, was a watershed work in exploring the impact of AIDS on the African-American community, bringing together jazz greats like Herbie Hancock and Donald Byrd with hip-hop artists like The Roots and The Pharcyde. This special, two-night celebration revisits a landmark piece of cultural history with many of the musicians who made it immortal.

Wallabout Historic Walking Tour
When: Saturday, May 30 from 11am-1pm
Where: Meet at Fort Greene Park Visitors Center
What: On the last Saturday of each month during Summer 2015, MARP and the Fort Greene Park Conservancy will host a FREE guided walking tour through Fort Greene Park and the historic Wallabout neighborhood north of Myrtle Avenue. The neighborhood, most of which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a historic district, has a beautiful mix of pre-Civil War homes and late 19th century industrial buildings. The walk will discuss how the neighborhood has developed since the Dutch first arrived in the early 1600’s and highlight notable residents, such as Walt Whitman (visit The Walt Whitman Project for more information).
The 2 hour guided tour begins in Fort Greene Park, includes a 1.5 mile walk, and concludes at 99 Ryerson Street. The event is FREE, but space is limited and registration is required.

Habana Outpost Kids Corner: Paper Plate Snakes
When: Saturday, May 30 from 11am-3pm
Where: Habana Outpost at 757 Fulton Street
What: Make paper plate snakes! The Kid’s Corner is a weekend program that offers free, creative workshops and crafts that teach environmentalism, wellness and community to neighborhood kids.  We meet every Sat and Sun from 11am-3pm in the courtyard of Habana Outpost.

Shape Up NYC Aerobics Class

4th Annual Spring Bike Tune Up

Bert Brecht’s “Saint Joan of the Stockyards”
