New Utrecht International Film Festival: Leviathan
When: Thursday, August 27, 2:30pm-4:30pm
Where: New Utrecht Library, 1743 86th Street
What: Leviathan, a Golden Globe winner for best foreign film, is set in a Russian coastal town. The main character, Kolya, is forced to fight the corrupt mayor or else his house will be demolished. He asks a lawyer friend for help, but things only get worse from there.The film will screen in Russian with English subtitles.

18th Avenue Feast of Santa Rosalia
When: Thursday, August 27 6pm-11pm – Sunday, August 30, 2pm
Where: 18th Avenue, between 68th Street to 75th Street
What: The 10-day festival, now in its 40th year, features food, rides and live music. On Sunday, at 2pm, take part in a procession up 18th Avenue and down 20th Avenue, followed by a short mass at Saint Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church (2001 Bay Ridge Parkway).

Friends Book Sale & Flea Market

Where: Sheepshead Bay Library, 2636 East 14th Street

They are accepting useable household items, clothing, books, toys, jewelry, toys, decorative arts & crafts, and more. All profits go towards the Sheepshead Bay Library. The book sale includes a large selection of fiction and non-fiction books, books for children, books for young adults, DVDs, CDs and other media, ranging in price from $1 to $3.

Bensonhurst Greenmarket

39th Annual Brighton Jubilee

Where: Brighton Beach Avenue
What: The Jubilee is a multi-block festival that runs along Brighton Beach Avenue turning down Coney Island Avenue to the beach, attracting record crowds of over 125,000 every year. The Jubilee has become one of Brooklyn’s most popular summer events.

Commemoration Of Battle Of Brooklyn
When: Sunday, August 30, 10am-2pm
Where: Green-Wood Cemetery
What: On the 238th anniversary of the Battle of Brooklyn, Green-Wood hosts a day of free commemoration ceremonies, trolley tours, and 18th-century living. See parades, cannon fire, horse rides, re-enactments and historic cooking. Living history events and activities will offer kids a real feel for life during the American Revolution.
