Things To Do In Southern Brooklyn This Week: Big Heroes On The Beach, Night Out Against Crime & More

Lots of fun and interesting things to do in southern Brooklyn this week. Check out the some of the family friendly movies playing in local parks, learn photography and animation skills, and don’t forget to turn out for National Night Out Against Crime, when you’re local precinct will be hosting the neighborhood for an evening full of giveaways, food, and fun.

Coney Island Circus Sideshow
When: Daily, 1pm – 8pm
Where: Sideshows by the Seashore, 1208 Surf Avenue
What: Coney Island is the last place in the United State where you can enjoy a ten-in-one circus sideshow. Check out thrilling performances by sword and fire swallowers, contortionists, and other entertainers who were “born different” during this one-of-a-kind production.

Flicks on the Beach: Big Hero 6
When: Monday, August 3, 8:30pm
Where: Coney Island Boardwalk, West 10th Street
What: Bring blankets and beach chairs and enjoy a free screening of Big Hero 6, playing on 40-foot inflatable screen near the beach.

What: Discover how to get the best photos out of your camera during this class presented by BRIC. You will learn basic camera settings like how to adjust resolution and exposure levels as well as composition concepts to make you picture pop.

61st Precinct: Night Out Against Crime
When: Tuesday, August 4, 5 – 8pm
Where: Rear parking lot of the 61st Precinct, 2575 Coney Island Avenue
What: Get to know your local officers and meet the new commanding officer during National Night Out Against Crime. There will be food, music, dancing and inflatable bouncy houses.

Where: Bay 22nd Street between Bath Avenue and Benson Avenue
What: Get to know your local officers and meet the new commanding officer during National Night Out Against Crime. The street will be shut down and there will rides, giveaways, music and good food.
