We’re getting close to the holiday and there’s lots to do in southern Brooklyn. Check out the Ragamuffin Thanksgiving Day Parade in Gerritsen Beach, the Good Shepherd Church is holding their annual tree lighting ceremony, and there’s a cool art exhibit opening up at a local restaurant. Friends Book Sale!

Art Exhibit: Bridge from Baku to New York

What: Meet artist Ismayil Mammadov at the reception for his exhibit: Bridge from Baku to New York. The exhibit showcases 50 watercolor, pastel, and acrylic paintings by the artist.

Ragamuffin Thanksgiving Day Parade

Where: Gerritsen Beach Fire Department, 52 Seba Avenue (Near Dare Court)
What: The Gerritsen Beach Fire Department will host its annual Ragamuffin Thanksgiving Day Parade. There will also be a raffle ($5 to enter) which will award a $500 and $100 cash prize to two winners.

Good Shepherd Church’s Tree Lighting Ceremony
When: Saturday, November 28, 5:45pm
Where: Good Shepherd Church, 1950 Batchelder Street (Near Avenue S)
What: Following the 5pm mass, Good Shepherd Church will host its annual Christman tree lighting ceremony. At 60 feet, it’s one of the tallest trees to be lit in Brooklyn. Santa is also expected to make an appearance.

Bensonhurst Greenmarket

Where: Milestone Park, 18th Avenue, between 81st and 82nd Street.
What: The award-winning farmers’ market is back! Lookout for free cooking demonstrations and delicious, organic, farm-fresh produce all day. The market will be open in the 18th Avenue park every Sunday until November 22.
