Community Board 11 Meeting
When: Thursday, October 8, at 7:30pm
Where: Bensonhurst Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare, 1740 84th Street
What: The Board serves as a local conduit to the government of New York City, representing neighbors’ needs and concerns. If you have a problem with a city agency or quality of life issue, the Board exists to relay your concerns and spur action. There will be time to hear residents’ concerns and discuss various committee reports, and elected officials may be in attendance.

What: The amusement park’s annual fall festival will feature story telling, a pumpkin patch, balloon art, crafts, s’mores, doggie parades, karaoke, and more.

Halloween Dog Parade & Costume Contest
When: Sunday, October 11, 2pm – 4pm
Where: Luna Park, 1000 Surf Avenue
What: Check-in and the parade will begin at the Scream Zone. The contest will take place at the main park on the stage. A distinguished panel of judges — including actress Kathryn Erbe from Law and Order — will select the winning pooches in several categories, including: Audience Choice, Cutest, Mr./Miss Congeniality, Most Original, and Best of Show.

Bensonhurst Greenmarket

Where: Milestone Park, 18th Avenue, between 81st and 82nd Street.
What: The award-winning farmers’ market is back! Lookout for free cooking demonstrations and delicious, organic, farm-fresh produce all day. The market will be open in the 18th Avenue park every Sunday until November 22.

Monster Mashups: Buffy & The Vampire Slayer at Dyker Beach Park

Where: South lawn in Dyker Beach Park, 86th Street and 14th Avenue
What: Join NYC Parks for free, spoofy horror movies in our city’s parks! For Buffy Summers (Kristy Swanson), nothing is the same after she meets Merrick Jamison-Smythe (Donald Sutherland). You should come before 6:30pm to get your spot. Please bring your own picnic blanket or chair. Food is OK, but no alcohol or smoking. Reservations are taken for the pre-movie activites only. All are welcome! Rated PG-13.

Retro Drive Cinema: Grease at Manhattan Beach Park
When: Sunday, October 11, 6:30pm – 8:30pm
Where: Manhattan Beach Park
What: Grab your bobbie socks, poodle skirt or leather jacket and hang out with the cool kids at Manhattan Beach! Gates open at 5:30pm so drive-in early to get a parking spot. If you choose to walk into the parking lot, there will be limited space for you to set-up your own picnic blanket or chairs. You will be given the FM call numbers to tune your radio to upon arrival. Food is OK, but no alcohol or smoking. Space is available on a first come first served basis. All are welcome!.

Columbus Day Parade
When: Saturday, October 10, starting at 1pm
Where: Start 62nd Street & 18th Avenue and ending at Il Centro on 18th Avenue & Benson Avenue.
What: The Brooklyn Columbus Parade sponsored by the Federation of Italian Americans, and celebrates the rich contributions and the dynamic vibrancy brought to our society by Italian Americans.
