Things to Do in Ditmas Park This Weekend
Will a storm called Nemo keep you close to home this weekend? If it does, you can still go out and enjoy yourself at these events that are within walking distance, just wear your boots!
Thursday, February 7• Get Down in the Basement: It’s the calm before the storm, live it up while you can! Head downstairs at Sycamore to hear music by MiWi La Lupa, the KM Ballad Trio, and Mike Gamble, all starting at 9pm. Sounds like an interesting night, which will include danceable tunes, improvisation, and a trombone.
• Visit neighbor Thomas Witte’s art opening in Manhattan, 5:30pm.
• Union Beer Distributors will be doing giveaways during 773 Lounge’s open mic, 7pm.
• Hear jazz and ambient soundscapes at the Intuit concert series at Lark, 8pm.
• Grab Your Beads and Celebrate Mardi Gras: It isn’t officially until next week, but 773 Lounge will be bringing the Fat Tuesday to this Friday as Dave Clive’s Nawlins Funk Band plays the bar’s party, which starts at 9:30pm.
• Meet fellow new parents at Lark, 1pm.
Saturday, February 9• Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate: Now that we have your attention, here’s a chance to learn about the history of chocolate and its impact on the world over the past 400 years. Deborah Prinz, scholar, rabbi, and author of On the Chocolate Trail, will give a talk at the East Midwood Jewish Center at 8pm, and the event will end with a chocolate dessert reception. For more info call 718-338-3800. UPDATE 2/8: Cancelled due to weather.
