Things To Do In Ditmas Park This Weekend
With temperatures in the 50s and 60s and food trucks returning to Prospect Park, this weekend is sure to be a great one for playing outside–but there’s plenty of fun to be had indoors, too. Check out our list of good bets for the next few days.
Thursday, April 4
Teach kids about environmental responsibility at Prospect Park’s Nature’s Helpers event at the Audubon Center, 1-2pm Thursdays and Fridays.- Then reward their hard work with some cool reptile-watching at Animal Encounter, also at the Audubon Center, 2-2:30pm.
- Joshua Trinidad will be playing two sets of his trumpet interpretations Chris Buck‘s photographs at Sycamore, 9pm and 10:30pm.
Friday, April 5
- Drop in for a free introductory pilates class hosted by Shape Up NYC, Prospect Park Audubon Center, 12-1pm.
- Meet other neighborhood moms and dads at the New Parent Meet-Up, Lark, 1-2pm.
- Then stick around for Babes and Beer Happy Hour, featuring $5 beer and $6 wine, Lark, 4-6pm.
- Live music-lovers and Anglophiles can watch London rockers Sweetheart Contract in the downstairs space, Sycamore, 9pm.
Saturday, April 6
- Get caffeinated with your canine and learn about off-leash activities at FIDO-sponsored Coffee Bark, Prospect Park, 7-9am.
- Celebrate the food trucks’ first day back at the Parade Ground, 8-5pm.
- Attend Opening Day events including the little league parade and first pitch of the season, starting at 7th Ave. and 2nd St. in Park Slope at 10am and ending at the Prospect Park Bandshell at 10:45.
- Children ages 3-5 can explore science, math, and more through stories and music at Ready, Set, Kindergarten! Cortelyou Library, 11am-12pm.
- Make crafts, sing songs, and of course read at Storytime with Jumpstart! Cortelyou Library, 2:30pm.
- Keep away from the Fizzy Lifting Drink and see Charlie & The Chocolate Factory at PS 217, 4pm.
- Brooklyn-based duo Canet will be playing songs from their album Maybe One Day downstairs at Sycamore, 9pm.
- Names You Can Trust is back for their weekly party in the bar space at Sycamore, 10pm.
Sunday, April 7
- Get a glimpse of the local avian life at Morning Bird Walk: Changing Seasons, Changing Birds, Prospect Park Audubon Center, 8am.
- Even more food trucks will be parked at Grand Army Plaza, 11am-5pm
- The David Smith Quintet comes to Underground Works at Sycamore, 8pm.
