Jazz Jam 
When: Thursday, January 14, 8pm
Where: Kettle & Thread, 1219 Church Avenue
What: Come enjoy some local jazz, hosted by Albert Marquez.

Baharat
When: Thursday, January 14, 9pm
Where: Bar Chord, 1008 Cortelyou Road
What: Performances include traditional folk songs from the Middle East along with original compositions, occasionally accompanied by guest musicians and belly dancing.

Happy Hour
When: Friday, January 15, 4pm
Where: Lark Cafe, 1007 Church Avenue
What: Come hang out Lark Cafe and start your weekend off with a glass of wine or beer and feel free to bring the kids!

The Kneeling Drunkards

What: Enjoy the country gospel style of this unique band!

Sahaja Yoga Meditation

What: Sahaja Yoga is a unique method of meditation based on an experience called Self Realization (Kundalini awakening) that can occur within each human being. Through this process an inner transformation takes place by which one becomes moral, united, integrated and balanced.

Third Root Winter Open House
When: Saturday, January 16, 2-5pm
Where: Third Root Community Center, 380 Marlborough Road
What: Check out all Third Root has to offer, including Chair Yoga with Estelle Miller, T’ai Chi with Vinny Peterson, Open Level Yoga with Emily, Auricular Acupuncture with Carmichael Monaco, and more! All who stop in will receive one complimentary yoga class!

Sing Along with Amy Miles
When: Sunday, January 17, 10am
Where: Lark Cafe, 1007 Church Avenue
What: Come sing along with Amy Miles! Playing original and well known songs on guitar, ukulele, and percussive things, singing stories with puppets and bubbles, Amy brings her quirky, country rock and casual style to the sing along arena.
How much: $8/family.

E-Waste Recycling
When: Sunday, January 17, 10am-4pm
Where: Prospect Park
What: Join the Prospect Park Alliance and Lower East Side Ecology Center at Prospect Park West and 3rd Street to safely and sustainably dispose of your unwanted electronics, free of charge. Learn more about accepted items and the LES Ecology Center.

Martin Luther King, Jr and Social Justice
When: Sunday, January 17, 12:30pm
Where: Central Library, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Panelists reflect on Reverend King’s social and Christian philosophies in light of today’s social and activist movements.  Can Dr. King’s and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) black civil rights successes be replicated today? Moderated by Michael Partis, Research and Policy Director of Young Movement, Inc. and Ph.D. Candidate, CUNY Graduate Center.

MLK Day Mini Open House
When: Monday, January 18, 1-6pm
Where: Prospect Gymnastics, 1023 Church Avenue
What: Come meet the staff and learn about their programs. In-person registration for spring classes and winter/summer camps will be available. They will also be conducting mini 30-minute trial classes. Pre-register for a trial class by emailing zoe@prospectgymnastics.com. Space is limited. First come first serve.
