Things To Do In Ditmas Park This Week
This week is a fun one for kids returning to school and a somber one as we approach the 12th anniversary of September 11, 2001. What are you doing to make it special, be it for your excited second grader or to honor those lost or who gave service on 9/11? Here are some ideas in and around Ditmas Park, and we’d love to hear some more.
Monday, September 9
- Attend a book sale at the East Midwood Jewish Center (1625 Ocean Avenue between Avenues K and L) until 4pm.
- There’s a sing-along with Rolie Polie Guacamole at Lark, 4:15pm
- Attend a public hearing and the first Community Board 14 meeting of the season at Edward R Murrow High School (E 17th Street between Avenues L and M), 7:15pm.
- The Monday Night Vinyl Club is at Sycamore, 8pm.
- Cooper Heffley is back at Bar Chord, 9pm.
Tuesday, September 10

- Learn how to make homemade baby food at Lark, 10am.
- Sustainable Flatbush‘s Healing Herb Garden open hours are Tues-Fri, 4pm-6pm.
- Attend a reading by Rachel Sherman‘s Ditmas Fiction class at Lark, 7:30pm.
- Bill Carney’s Jug Addicts play Bar Chord, 9pm.
Wednesday, September 11
- Pledge to do a good deed in observance of September 11.
- Rock out with The Dad Beats at Lark, 11am.
- Lend the Wednesday Corps a hand at Prospect Park (call 718-287-3400 for location), 11am.
- It’s preschool story time at the Cortelyou Library, 2:45pm.
- Join Andrew from Rolie Polie Guacamole for a sing-along at Lark, 4pm.
- Prepare for your U.S. Citizenship exam at the Cortelyou Library, 5-6pm.
- … and then join an English conversation group, also at the Cortelyou Library, 6-8pm.
- The Free Standards series is at Bar Chord, 9pm.
