Dyker Height Christmas Lights 2015
When: All December long
Where: Dyker Heights, 10th Avenue to 13th Avenue, 81st Street to 85th Street
What: Each December, thousands flock to Dyker Heights to take in the southern Brooklyn neighborhood’s spectacular holiday displays. See giant Santas, sleighs, soliders, raindeer, and so much more. Also, drop by one of the area’s famous bakeries for hot chocolate and cannoli.

Family Movie: Big Hero 6
When: Tuesday, December 29, 2 – 3:30pm
Where: New Utrecht Library,1743 86th Street
What: Hiro’s closest companion is Baymax, a robot whose sole purpose is to take care of people. When a devastating turn of events throws Hiro into the middle of a dangerous plot, he transforms Baymax and his other friends into a band of high-tech heroes.

Free Ice Skating At Abe Stark
When: Tuesday, December 29, and Wednesday, December 30, 9:30 – 11:30am
Where: Abe Stark Skating Rink, 1902 West 19th Street
What: Come out for two hours of ice skating and enjoy some cookies and hot cocoa.
How much: Free

Babies & Books
When: Wednesday, December 30, 11 – 11:45am
Where: Kings Highway Library, 2115 Ocean Ave (Near Ocean Avenue)
What: Children up to 18 months old will be encouraged in early literacy and language development by their caregivers in this program that provides great books, fun songs and rhymes, and socialization opportunities.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks In Coney Island
When: Thursday, December 31, 9pm
Where: Coney Island Boardwalk, Surf Avenue and Stillwell Avenue
What: Coney Island will host a family-friendly New Year’s Eve bash to rival the festivities in Times Square. Check out the fireworks and countdown to the digital ball drop on the Parachute Jump. There will also be live music, food and free admission to some of the rides.

Watch the Quadrantids Meteor Shower
When: Sunday, January 3, 7pm – 8:30pm
Where: Marine Park Salt Marsh Nature Center, Near East 33rd Street and Avenue U
What: Herald in the New Year with the sky’s natural fireworks. Park rangers will be on hand Sunday evening to help sky gazers located the Quadrantids meteor shower.
How much: Free
