It’s a week of family-friendly performances in Southern Brooklyn! On Friday, check out the students of I.S. 96 perform Annie Jr., or take in some arias with The Italian Opera Company at the New Utrecht Library. Want to see dad get in on the action? Head to Coney Island on Sunday for a special Father’s Day karaoke session at Deno’s Wonder Wheel.

Act-Out! Acting School Pinocchio Auditions
When: Tuesday, June 16, 5pm-7:30pm
Where: The Block Institute, 376 Bay 44th Street
What: Kids will audition for their role in the Act-Out! Acting School’s summer camp performance of Pinocchio. All registrants will be accepted into Act-Out! camp. Auditions are held simply to determine the most appropriate role for each student. Camp runs August 17 – 28, Monday – Friday, 10am – 2pm.

Story Time with Theresa Cusmano
When: Tuesday, June 16, 11am
Where: Boulevard Books & Cafe, 7518 13th Avenue
What: Join author Theresa Cusmano for a special story time and reading of her first book Hoppy My Dog. There will be a special guest appearance by Hoppy himself at the meet and greet and book signing!

Pelmeni Cooking Class
When: June 18, 5pm
Where: Green Apron Kitchen, 7122 Bay Parkway
What: Pelmeni (part of traditional Russian cuisine) are dumplings that are filled with meat and spices. They can be cooked in broth to make soup and they are served with sour cream, butter, vinegar, salt and pepper. Kids will have a chance to make dough and veal filling from scratch.

Viva La Dance

What: A dance extravaganza in three acts featuring classical and neoclassical ballet, as well as modern and theatrical divertissement. Young artists will show off original choreography and unique technique influenced by the world-renowned traditions of the School of Russian Ballet.
