Things To Do In Ditmas Park This Weekend
This weekend, take advantage of what should (crossing our fingers) be a couple of sunny days. There’s lots happening, from all kinds of Halloween celebrations in Prospect Park both Saturday and Sunday to a community clothing swap and drive at PS 139 on Sunday – and lots more:
Thursday, October 23
• Sign up for open mic night at 773 Lounge starting at 8pm.
• Bill Scorzari performs his American roots and folk at Bar Chord, 9pm.
Friday, October 24
• Join the drop-in sing-alongs with Lloyd H. Miller at Lark Café, 10 & 11am.
• Come to Prospect Park’s Audubon Center for a free cardio toning class, 12pm.
• Meet fellow moms and dads at the New Parent Meet-Up, Lark, 1pm.
• Kids can attend Blooming Naturalists at the Prospect Park’s Audubon Center, 1-2pm Thursdays and Fridays.
• … followed by Nature on the Go, also at the Audubon Center, 2-3pm Thursdays and Fridays.
• Learn about local wildlife at Animal Encounter, also at the Audubon Center, 3-4pm Thursdays and Fridays.
• Happy hour with babies and ice cream happy hour are at Lark, 4pm.
• Check out Happy Hour cocktail recipes at T.B. Ackerson Wine Merchants, 6-8pm.
• Get your heart rate up and explore the neighborhood with Ditmas Rides, meeting in front of the Cortelyou Library at 7pm.
• Out of System Transfer performs their punk-inspired Americana groovefest at Bar Chord, 9pm.
• Rahlou is at Sycamore, 10pm.
Saturday, October 25
• Ice skating starts at Prospect Park’s Lakeside! $8 admission on weekends, $6 skate rentals. 10am-9pm.
• Lavender Blues Sing-Along at Lark Cafe, 10 & 11am.
• Children ages 3 to 5 and their parents/caregivers are welcome to attend Ready, Set, Kindergarten at the Cortelyou Library. In this special six-session series, families will enjoy stories and activities designed to encourage early learning development, 11am.
• Join the zombies, headless horsemen, and wolf men at the annual Haunted Halloween Walk at Prospect Park 12pm-3pm.
• The Haunted Halloween Carnival at Prospect Park will feature fun games for children and families, pony rides, and more. 12-3pm.
• Scary stories will be told at the Lefferts Historic House, 2 & 3pm.
• There’s Sahaja yoga meditation at the Cortelyou Library, 12:30-2pm.
• Discover spooky creepy crawlers at the Audubon Center. It’s a critter-fest in Prospect Park with lots of spiders, worms, and other creatures that are sure to make your skin crawl. There will be crafts and experiments, 1 to 4 p.m.
• La Madrugada performs their Latin rhythms at Bar Chord, 9pm.
Sunday, October 26
• Check out all the fresh veggies, fruit, and more at the Cortelyou greenmarket (Cortelyou between Argyle and Rugby), 8am-3pm.
• Bring your unwanted clothes to the community clothing swap and drive at PS 139, 9am-3pm.
• Kids yoga with Jen at Lark Cafe, 11am.
• Game Night is on at 773 Lounge, 7pm.
• Mike O’Malley plays at Bar Chord, 7pm.
• Cortelyou Jazz Jam at Bar Chord, 9pm.
