Things To Do In Ditmas Park This Weekend

There is so much happening this weekend! You can celebrate Purim at a carnival and a masquerade ball, see the musical director for the Gregg Allman Band perform at Bar Chord, watch a free performance from the School of American Ballet at the Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts, celebrate a new community center dedicated to promoting Pakistani culture, and lots more:

Thursday, March 5

• Dream of warmer weather with surfing videos and Caribbean food at Sycamore’s The Lodge, 8pm.
Celebrate Purim at the East Midwood Jewish Center, 7pm.
Sycamore’s Q Train party kicks off with Ariel Speedwagon’s Bingo in The Lodge at 8pm, DJ GoGo Gadget at 10pm, and steamy late-night performances by Erika Klash.
• Scott Sherrard, the musical director for the Gregg Allman Band, and his Brick Yard Band kick off their spring series at Bar Chord with smoking guitar jams, special guests & more, 9pm.

Friday, March 6

• Join the drop-in sing-alongs with Lloyd H. Miller at Lark Café, 10 & 11am.
• Adults are welcome to work on their technological skills at Cortelyou Library’s computer lab, 11am.
• Free yoga class for people of all ages and levels at the Cortelyou Library, 10:15-11:15am.
• Come to Prospect Park’s Audubon Center for a free cardio toning class (bring your own workout mat), 12pm.
• Meet fellow moms and dads at the New Parent Meet-Up, Lark, 1pm.
• Neighbors of all ages are welcome to attend the creative writing group at the Cortelyou Library, 2:45-3:45pm.
• Kids are invited to get help with their homework at the Cortelyou Library, 3-5pm.
Happy hour with babies and ice cream happy hour are at Lark, 4pm.
• Drop-in sing-along with Andrew of Rolie Polie Guacamole at Lark Cafe ($10 per family), 4pm.
Check out Happy Hour cocktail recipes at T.B. Ackerson Wine Merchants, 6-8pm.
• Get your heart rate up and explore the neighborhood with Ditmas Rides, meeting in front of the Cortelyou Library at 7pm.
• Looking for a fun & safe environment for your child while you do your shopping, go out to dinner, or catch up with friends? Latin Fever will provide your child with fun-filled activities, games, movies and more. $35 for 2.5 hours and snacks or $15 for one hour. 7:30-10pm.
• The Crevulators perform their rockin’ eclecticana at Bar Chord, 9pm.
Rahlou is at Sycamore, 10pm.

Saturday, March 7

• Drop off food, books, coats, and toys at CAMBA’s spring cleaning extravaganza from Saturday, March 7 through Monday, March 9.
• Lavender Blues Sing-Along at Lark Cafe, 10 & 11am.
Purim family service and carnival at Temple Beth Emeth, 11am & 12:30-3pm for the carnival.
• Learn how to make your every day healthy at a free workshop at the Family of Light Holistic Center (pre-register here), 11:30am-1pm.
• The Brooklyn Bird Club offers a free class on birdwatching at Prospect Park’s Audubon Center, 12-1:30pm.
• Clear your mind at the Sahaja Yoga Meditation at the Cortelyou Library, 12:30-1:30pm.
• Watch a free ballet performance at the Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts, 2pm.
• Try some scrumptious food and drinks at Sycamore’s Flatbush Food Court, 2-8pm every Saturday and Sunday.
Purim masquerade ball at the East Midwood Jewish Center, 7pm-3am.
• Grupo Descarillao plays their class Saturday night salsa at Bar Chord, 9pm.

Sunday, March 8

• Check out all the fresh veggies, fruit, and more at the Cortelyou Greenmarket (Cortelyou between Argyle and Rugby), 8am-3pm.
• Kids yoga with Jen at Lark Café, 10am.
• Sing along with Amy Miles at Lark Café, 11am.
• Try some scrumptious food and drinks at Sycamore’s Flatbush Food Court, 2-8pm every Saturday and Sunday.
• Brooklyn Rebuild Immigrant Communities & Knowledge (BRICK) and New York University will celebrate the opening of their community outreach center that will be dedicated to promoting the Pakistani languages, literatures, and cultures, 920 Foster Avenue, 4-6:30pm.
• Come taste & learn about wine from some of France’s most innovative winemakers at the Farm on Adderley. $75 per person for five courses plus wine tastings. Go here for more info and to sign up for the event, 7:30pm.
