Things To Do In Ditmas Park This Weekend

We’re super excited for this weekend! The Q Train is at Sycamore tonight, you can see the newly renovated Kings Theatre and volunteer at Ditmas IS 62 on Saturday,  Lit at Lark is celebrating strong female characters at its monthly writerstravaganza at Lark Café on Sunday, and lots more is happening around the neighborhood:

Thursday, February 5

• Hear Brooklyn College musicians perform at the free Preparatory Center Faculty Recital, 7pm.
The Q Train is at Sycamore, which means trivia in The Lodge at 8pm, DJ Gogo Gad at 10pm, and late-night performances by Ari Kiki The Hot Mess at 11(ish)pm.
• Father and son duo Eamonn Dowd and Jackson Lynch perform at Bar Chord, 9pm.

Friday, February 6

• Join the drop-in sing-alongs with Lloyd H. Miller at Lark Café, 10 & 11am.
• Free yoga class for people of all ages and levels at the Cortelyou Library, 10:15-11:15am.
• Adults are invited to brush up on their computer skills at the Cortelyou Library, 11am-12pm.
• Come to Prospect Park’s Audubon Center for a free cardio toning class, 12pm.
• Meet fellow moms and dads at the New Parent Meet-Up, Lark, 1pm.
• Kids can attend Blooming Naturalists  at the Prospect Park’s Audubon Center, 1-2pm Thursdays and Fridays.
• … followed by Nature on the Go, also at the Audubon Center, 2-3pm Thursdays and Fridays.
• Neighbors of all ages are welcome to attend the creative writing group at the Cortelyou Library, 2:45-3:45pm.
• Learn about local wildlife at Animal Encounter, also at the Audubon Center, 3-4pm Thursdays and Fridays.
Happy hour with babies and ice cream happy hour are at Lark, 4pm.
• Drop-in sing-along with Andrew of Rolie Polie Guacamole at Lark Cafe ($10 per family), 4pm.

• Get your heart rate up and explore the neighborhood with Ditmas Rides, meeting in front of the Cortelyou Library at 7pm.
• Looking for a fun & safe environment for your child while you do your shopping, go out to dinner, or catch up with friends? Latin Fever will provide your child with fun-filled activities, games, movies and more. $35 for 2.5 hours and snacks or $15 for one hour. 7:30-10pm.
• The John Pinamonti Band performs their American roots music at Bar Chord, 9pm.

Saturday, February 7

• Bring your pups to Prospect Park’s Long Meadow for treats at FIDO’s free Coffee Bark, 7-9am.
• Lavender Blues Sing-Along at Lark Cafe, 10 & 11am.
• Help your neighbors at two new volunteering programs at Ditmas IS 62, 10:30-11:30am.
• Take a free guided tour of the Kings Theatre, 11:30am-4pm.
Join the Cortelyou Library for a free family read-aloud in honor of Take Your Child To The Library Week, 11am-12pm.
• Clear your mind at the Sahaja Yoga Meditation at the Cortelyou Library, 12:30-1:30pm.
• Try some scrumptious food and drinks at Sycamore’s Flatbush Food Court, 2-8pm every Saturday and Sunday.
Alegba and Friends celebrate Bob Marley’s birthday with an Afro-Caribbean funfest at Bar Chord, 9pm.

Sunday, February 8

• Check out all the fresh veggies, fruit, and more at the Cortelyou greenmarket (Cortelyou between Argyle and Rugby), 8am-3pm.
• Sign up to compete in the Brooklyn Road Runners‘ Valentine’s Day 5K Run in Prospect Park, 10am-12pm.
• Kids yoga with Jen at Lark Café, 10am.
• Sing along with Amy Miles at Lark Café, 11am.
• The Family of Light Holistic Center is hosting a “healing fair,” including acupressure, chakra balancing, and aroma touch sessions. ($15 for one session, $35 for all three). 11am-2pm. Register here.
Join the CAYBC for a “Are You Sore From Sitting At Your Desk?” workshop, which will include tips for massage techniques and more. Admission is $15 if you pre-register or $20 at the door. 4:30pm.
The always fantastic Lit at Lark at Lark Café will feature readings by novelists Amy Sohn, Elisa Albert and Lucinda Rosenfeld (and Lark provides a happy hour drink special!), 5-7pm.
