Things To Do In Ditmas Park This Week

Yeah, it’s all cold and Decembery out, but don’t let that stop you from getting out into the neighborhood this week! You can find out more about what’s happening in our community at CB 14’s monthly meeting, eat some free food at the Church Avenue BID’s annual gathering, learn about PS 217 at its open house, drink beer at The Castello Plan’s “Kill the Keg” party, and lots more:

Monday, December 8

• Check out the weekly Shape Up NYC Couch to 5k Group Run, meeting at the Lefferts Historic House, 7pm.
Community Board 14 holds its monthly meeting at PS 249, 7:30pm.
• Sultry songstress Jesse Davis will perform at Bar Chord, 9pm.

Tuesday, December 9

• Learn more about PS 217 at its open house, 8:30-10:30am.
• There’s a drop-in sing-along with Dan Loomis (of The Dadbeats) at Lark Cafe, 9am.
• Join the drop-in sing-along with Miss Katie at Lark Cafe, 11am.
• It’s Babies and Books time at the Cortelyou Library, 11:15am-12pm.
• Come sing and dance with Amy Miles at Lark Cafe, 4pm.
• Kids ages 6-12 are invited to play board games, card games and more at the Cortelyou Library, 4-5pm.
• Join the Church Avenue BID for their annual meeting (there will be complementary food by Lark Cafe, Am-Thai, Anarkali, Shayna’s, Wheated, and Hunger Pang!) at Lark Café. The event is free and open to the public, but please RSPV by calling (718) 282-2500, ext. 79234 or emailing LaurenC@churchavenue.org. 6-8pm.
• Drink cask beer and munch on cheese and other bar snacks at The Castello Plan’s “Kill the Keg” party, 7-until the keg is tapped!
Join the Brooklyn Front Runners (a multi-sport club for LGBT and LGBT-friendly athletes) for a run at Prospect Park every Tuesday evening, 7pm.
• Win a $60 bar tab during Highbury Pub’s trivia night, 9pm.
Miss Tess‘ Tuesday Night Residency is back with groovy, modern and vintage music at Bar Chord, 9pm.

Wednesday, December 10

• A gentle yoga class each Wednesday at the Church of the Nativity (1099 Ocean Avenue, by Farragut) will include stretching, strengthening, and breathing deeply, and the instructor noted it’s good for those with arthritis, hypertension, diabetes, or just regular aches and pains. $10 suggested donation, 10:30am.
• Join the sing-along with Debbie Deane at Lark Café, 11am.
• Children in first through eighth grades can get help on their homework at the Cortelyou Library, 3-4:30pm.
• Teenagers are invited to make new friends while playing the Wii and PlayStation at the Cortelyou Library, 4-5pm.
• The 70th Precinct Community Council will hold its monthly meeting at 175 Lawrence Avenue, 7:30pm.
• Free standards at Bar Chord, 9pm.
• Two-for-one whiskey night at the Highbury Pub, 9pm.
