Things To Do In Ditmas Park This Week

There’s much happening in and around the neighborhood this week, from a meeting of the Brooklyn Public Philosophers tonight, a celebration of the first anniversary of Bar Chord’s music trivia night and a wine tasting at Lea tomorrow evening, and Councilman Jumaane Williams’ town hall meeting Wednesday. Monday, November 3

• Check out the weekly Shape Up NYC Couch to 5k Group Run, meeting at the Lefferts Historic House, 7pm.
• Join neighbor Ian Olasov for the Brooklyn Public Philosophers meeting tonight, when New School Professor Alice Crary will speak about intellectual disability and the role of literature in moral reasoning. The event will be held in the Info Commons Lab at the central branch of the Brooklyn Public Library, 7pm.
• Work in a neighborhood bar or restaurant? Come take advantage of drink specials at Industry Night, 773 Lounge, 9pm.
Seth Morgan performs his stew of blues, rock, folk, punk, and jazz at Bar Chord, 9pm.

Tuesday, November 4

• Don’t forget to vote! If you don’t know where you’re supposed to cast your ballot, go here. 6am-9pm.
• There’s a drop-in sing-along with Dan Loomis (of The Dadbeats) at Lark Cafe, 9am.
• Join the drop-in sing-along with Miss Katie at Lark Cafe, 11am.
• Come sing and dance with Amy Miles at Lark Cafe, 4pm.
• The hosts of Music Trivia Night at Bar Chord are celebrating their one-year anniversary! Bring your friends and compete for drinks, music, jukebox credits, and more. 7-9pm.
Join Lea for their first-ever wine dinner, which will include a special four course meal, 8pm.
Join the Brooklyn Front Runners (a multi-sport club for LGBT and LGBT-friendly athletes) for a run at Prospect Park every Tuesday evening, 7pm.

Wednesday, November 5

• Lend the Wednesday Corps a hand at Prospect Park (call 718-287-3400 for location), 10am.
• Attend a sing-along with neighbor Debbie Deane at Lark, 11am.
• A new gentle yoga class each Wednesday at the Church of the Nativity (1099 Ocean Avenue, by Farragut) will include stretching, strengthening, and breathing deeply, and the instructor noted it’s good for those with arthritis, hypertension, diabetes, or just regular aches and pains. $10 suggested donation, 10:30am.
• Children in grades 1 through 8 can get help with their homework at the Cortelyou Library, 3-5pm.
• Teens are invited to play video games at the Cortelyou Library, 4-5pm.
• Neighbors of all ages are welcome to participate in the Falundafa exercise event at the Cortelyou Library, 6:30-7:30pm.
All are invited to Councilman Jumaane Williams’ town hall meeting at Young Israel of Avenue K (East 29th Street and Avenue K), during which residents will be able to address concerns with high-ranking officials from various city agencies, including transportation, housing and preservation, sanitation, finance, environmental protection, buildings, and the MTA. 7-9pm.
