Thieves Try To Steal An ATV, A Mugging On E 4th & More Recent Crimes

Below is her sketch of felony crimes committed in Kensington’s two police sectors, G and K, in the 22 days from Friday, February 21 to Friday, March 14. Sector G includes Beverley Rd to Ave F, and 37th Street to Coney Island Avenue; Sector K covers Caton Ave to Beverley Rd and 37th Street to Coney Island Ave. The entire 66th Precinct is split into 13 sectors, lettered A-J. ROBBERY

Wednesday, March 5, 8pm
E 4th Street between Albemarle Rd and Church Ave
Three perps attacked a 40-year-old man from behind as he was walking home, police say, adding that they pushed the man to the ground, took his cell phone, wallet, cash, and ID and then fled. According to police, the stolen property was worth $960.

BURGLARY

Reported Friday, February 21, crime occurred between Wednesday, February 19, 4pm and Thursday, February 20, 7:30am
East 5th Street between Beverley Rd and Ave C

The police say unknown suspects gained entrance through the front door, breaking the lock, then taking money, a safe, miscellaneous papers, and jewelry. The theft’s total value was $860.

East 2nd Street between Beverley Rd and Ave C
Cops say someone tried to break into a man’s house through a side window, but failed. According to the police, the perp fled without taking anything.

GRAND LARCENY

McDonald Avenue between Church Ave and Ave C
In the latest Green Dot MoneyPak Card scam, police say a 49-year-old man lost $10,000 to a swindler who called him and claimed to be from the IRS. The con artist convinced the local man to purchase a Green Dot Card by threatening him with deportation if he didn’t. Cops say the man did as told, and then let nine days go by before reporting it to the police.

Beverley Road between E 8th St and Coney Island Ave
According to the police, a witness saw three men, ages 29, 32, and 20, steal a 2004 Honda ATV by putting it in a U-Haul van. The Honda belonged to a 21-year-old man who’d parked it at the rear of a fenced-in yard. The 66th Precinct arrested all three men that same night, at 1:10am.

A man found his 1991 Honda had vanished when he returned to use it, police say.
