Thief Snatches 78-Year-Old Woman’s Purse On Avenue O, Police Say

Police say they are searching for a purse-snatching thief who robbed an elderly woman on Avenue O on Wednesday, August 5.
The NYPD says the victim, a 78-year-old woman, was standing on the northwest corner of Avenue O and East 13th Street at 8:30am when the suspect approached her. He allegedly grabbed her purse, containing $200, her reading glasses, and a cell phone, and fled.
The police, who provided the surveillance footage shown above, described the suspect as black and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
