The Long Christmas Dinner is coming to Ditmas Park. A 1931 play written by Thornton Wilder, the show chronicles 90 years of Christmas dinners in the Bayard family in all of 45 minutes. Described as a poignant, funny and unsparing look at an American family over time, it is an important part of Wilder’s highly regarded writing career.

Brave New World, a Brooklyn-based theater company including Ditmas Park neighbors, produced the show last year and now they’re bringing it back for a holiday run this weekend in Ditmas Park. The show will be performed twice each evening with different casts showing two family portraits: one black family and one white family.

The shows runs this weekend at the home of one of the theater company’s members at 1306 Albemarle Road on Friday, December 14 at 7 and 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, December 15 at 7 and 8:30 p.m. One show costs $15 and seeing both families costs $25. You can buy tickets here.
