The R Is Going Through The Tunnel! Plus More Subway Service Changes

Indeed, it’s true! The subway tunnel connecting Brooklyn and Manhattan, which was closed 13 months ago to repair damage caused by Hurricane Sandy, reopened last night, with an N train going through first (the N will take the tunnel on nights and weekends), and R trains resuming travel there this morning.

So enjoy that, and then look out for the following changes along local lines:

Coney Island-bound F trains run via the A from W 4 St to Jay St-MetroTech
Late nights, 11:45pm to 5am, Monday to Friday, until September 19
No Coney Island-bound F service at B’way-Lafayette St, 2 Av, Delancey St, East Broadway, and York St.
G trains run every 30 minutes between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs
Late nights, 11pm to 5am, Monday to Friday, September 15-19
Service operates in two sections: 1. Between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs, every 30 minutes; and 2. Between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Church Av, every 15 minutes. Transfer at Bedford-Nostrand Avs to continue your trip.
No R shuttle train between 59 St and 36 St
Late nights, 11:45pm to 5am, Monday to Friday, until September 26
R service operates between 95 St and 59 St. Take the N instead. Transfer between trains at 59 St.
R service restored between Whitehall St and Court St via the Montague Tubes
All times, effective 11pm Sunday, September 14
Days and evenings: R service operates via the Montague Tubes between Whitehall St, Manhattan and Court St, Brooklyn. Late nights: N trains run via the R stopping at City Hall, Cortlandt, Rector, Whitehall, Court Sts, and Jay St-MetroTech.
Additionally, look out for changes further along the D and F lines.

These schedules will occasionally change, so check MTA.info for the latest updates.
