PS 139’s Parent Association recently announced that they have been approved by the IRS for 501(c)(3) status as a tax exempt nonprofit organization.

“This is truly a momentous achievement for the P.A. and our school because the 501(c)(3) status enables the PA to pursue grants and expand our fundraising activities in creative ways that will help increase financial support for our kids,” said Susanna Stein, Vice President of External Fundraising for the PA.

The PA has been working to gain 501(c)(3) status for over two years and they’ve finally reached this goal thanks to dedication from parents and alumni, as well as assistance from the Lawyers’ Alliance for New York and the law firm of Paul Hastings, which provided legal support.

Stein says the PA hopes to celebrate with a gala fundraiser soon, but if you would like to donate to the Parent Association in the meantime, donations are now tax deductible and can be made by visiting the PS 139 website and clicking the donate button.
