The Pop Up Piano Project Is Back, Beginning This Weekend

Those cool painted pianos are going to be popping up again this weekend, all for a great cause. The Pop-Up Piano Project, organized by Sing for Hope, is coming back this summer starting June 1 and lasting through June 16.

The event, which centers around 88 custom painted pianos placed in various city parks and public spaces spread out over the five boroughs, attracts more than 1,000 volunteer artists and local community members to help create music- and art-based activities.

Locally, pianos can be found in Coney Island, Bensonhurst Park and Marine Park.

Three events are currently planned at the Coney Island spot located at 1301 Boardwalk West. June 3 features a date night. On June 6, a Brooklyn Borough Tour is planned, while on June 11 there will be a beach barbecue.

Two events are set for the Bensonhurst Park location (2128-2198 Cropsey Avenue) including a Borough Tour on June 6 and a Playground Day on June 9.

There is one event planned at the Marine Park spot located at the Carmine Carro Community Center (2900-2997 Fillmore Avenue) which is a Community Day that focuses around a tour of the community center.
