It’s that magical time of year, when Dyker Heights is aglow with a gazillion LED bulbs.

Local photographer Will Caruso scoped out the scene this year and marked the streets with the most fabulous displays. As of Saturday, some of the homes most famous for their Christmas decorations were still dark, and the best displays were concentrated on the blocks between 10th Avenue and 12th Avenue, and between 81st Street and 85th Street.

Folks got creative with color this year. In addition to the usual Santas, sleighs, and soldiers accompanied by red and gold lights, many displays incorporated shades of pink and purple. There were snowmen, snowflakes, reindeer, nativity scenes, and more.

We also spotted some impressive motorized displays, including some characters that were straight out of Goosebumps.

Case in point, this abominable snowman:

In addition to its incredible Christmas displays, the neighborhood is known for having an abundance of fabulous old-fashioned Italian pastry shops. A tour of the Dyker Heights’ holiday lights would not be complete without a cannoli pitstop. So, warm up with a cup of cocoa and try a cannoli at one of the area’s legendary bakeries.

We’ve rounded up a few of our favorites.
