The Juice Pedaler Closes Doors For Good; ELK Café To Move Into The Space This February

We have both sad and happy news: The Juice Pedaler (154 Prospect Park Southwest) closed its doors for good on Sunday, but we’ve got good news for all you coffee lovers – another café will be moving into the space!

Kari Brown, who lives in Kensington with her husband and two young sons and also owns the nearby Lark Café (1007 Church Avenue), let us know she’ll be opening ELK Café at the Prospect Park Southwest site in February.

Kari wrote to us that ELK will be a family friendly café, and she’s hoping to “cater to dog lovers and dog walkers in the neighborhood.” She let us know that:

ELK will open with an expanded menu featuring Stumptown Coffee, bagels, scones, tea bread, cookies, vegan and gluten free baked goods, doughnuts, and more. It promises to be a foodies delight. ELK will also serve soups and sandwiches and offer great lunch options for neighbors hoping not to stray too far from the park.

During these upcoming winter months, Kari and the folks at ELK will hold story-times and songs with hot chocolate by the indoor fireplace – and when the weather turns warmer, they plan on hosting activities geared towards kids in the back garden.

“We look forward to getting to know our neighbors and creating a community coffee shop that welcomes and warms all who choose to gather,” Kari wrote to us.
