The Greenmarket Report: Snow & Beef
Radishes at Park Slope Farmers Market by juliablanter on Instagram

A little snow isn’t going to stop our weekend markets from setting up shop, so don’t let it stop you from shopping for your groceries!

The Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket will be open as usual Saturday, January 4. One thing to note: due to snow removal, there will not be textile collections at the market (or any other GrowNYC Greenmarkets in the city). However, you’ll still be able to drop off food scraps for composting here from 8am-3:30pm.

Also open as usual will be the Park Slope Farmers Market on Sunday, January 5. Starting this weekend, Kiernan Farm will be selling pasture-raised beef all season long at the market. Marty and Thelma Kiernan raise their cows on 140-acres of pasture that has been in continuous agricultural production since 1682 upstate in Ulster County.

The GAP Greenmarket runs Saturdays from 8am-4pm at Grand Army Plaza. The Park Slope Farmers Market runs Sundays from 10am-4pm along 4th Street at 5th Ave.
