The Fat Beagle Coming To Church Avenue?

Fat Beagle

Seems like there might be another ridiculously-delicious restaurant on its way to Church Ave: Ashley and Matt Weavil of The Fat Beagle catering company began a Kickstarter campaign at the end of last week, and are in negotiations to take over the former Palmeras space (1021 Church between Stratford and E 10th).

Since 2011, The Fat Beagle has been catering events like Smorgasburg and serving as a pop-up restaurant at different locations in Brooklyn. Inspired by old family recipes, the company serves “Carolina-style comfort food” like fried pickles, squash puppies, sliders, and grits, all with a New York twist.

Curious to try some Fat Beagle fare? The Weavils will be at the Church Ave. Street Fair on Sunday, on the same block as Palmeras, offering dishes they hope to serve at their restaurant. Stop by, offer your support, and tell us how the green apple coleslaw and molasses baked beans go!
