The DOT Still Wants Your Bench Suggestions
photo via Streetsblog
DOT would really love to offer you a seat (courtesy is contagious!) — they just want to know where you think it should be.
The department is re-upping their campaign to get more benches on the city streets — up to 1500 of them — and they’re turning to us, the bench-sitters of New York, for guidance. And unlike the recently-announced MTA rider survey (which you should also totally fill out!), your comments here could make an more immediately visible difference.
Which isn’t to say that the DOT will put a bench just anywhere: there are significant limiting factors to consider (sidewalk width, distance from subways/phone booths/cafes, etc.). Got a suggestion for a spot that meets the requirements? Request a bench by filling out the DOT’s form here.
