With fall beginning on Sunday, we’re wondering about your favorite autumn activities in the nabe, locals. Email us or let us know in the comments, and don’t forget to post photos to The Nabe’s Flickr group.

  • The city’s Parks Department said that it would prune some trees at the Fort Greene Park Tennis Courts beginning today at 11 a.m., according to Michael Brownstein, the president of the Fort Greene Tennis Association. As a result, a portion of the courts will be unavailable for use today, Brownstein said.  The association had lobbied for the pruning for about a year, Brownstein said. This isn’t the only upcoming improvement at the courts: A new storage shed will arrive on Sept. 24, according to Brownstein. The upcoming repairs follow an early summer resurfacing project at the courts, filling in cracks and fissures that have gradually developed over the last 19 years. Brownstein told The Nabe he hoped the project, completely funded by local tennis players, would spark the city to fund other improvements at the courts.
