Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

It might be downright chilly today, but sunny skies are expected to help temperatures rise to near 70 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. But don’t forget that cool changes are coming, locals – a frost advisory was in effect this morning north of New York City, for Sullivan County and part of Ulster. If you’re out enjoying the day, don’t forget to snap some shots and share them in The Nabe’s Flickr group.

  • Have concerts or patrons of events at the Barclays Center got on your nerves, locals? You can make sure the topics that are important to you are being discussed in the latest Atlantic Yards Quality of Life Committee meeting next week, according to the Atlantic Yards Report. Although the public won’t be allowed to comment during the meeting, civic organizations and community representatives will have the chance to discuss issues affecting businesses and residents. Get to Brooklyn Borough Hall Court Room at 209 Joralemon Street on Sept, 26, 2013 by 6:30 p.m. to hear the forum.
  • The Greene Hill Food Co-op will commemorate the change of season with its second annual fall celebration and mural painting party on Sept. 21. The free fun, open to members and non-members, includes cooking demonstrations, kids’ activities, music, yoga and more. Just head to the co-op’s backyard at 18 Putnam Avenue between noon and 6 p.m.
  • Last but not least, we got word that the 15th annual Great PUPkin dog costume contest will return to Fort Greene Park this year. The contest, organized by Fort Greene Park Users and Pets Society (PUPS), is scheduled for Oct. 26, with a rain date on Oct. 27. The contest begins at noon, but registration opens at around 11:00 a.m. on the Prison Ship Martyrs Monument plaza. The suggested donation for each dog is $5.00.
