Yesterday morning and early afternoon brought lots of rain to the nabe, but we hope you were able to get out in the late afternoon and early evening to catch a little sun. If not, you’ll have a chance today: It’s expected to be a sunny day with highs in the upper 70s, the National Weather Service reported.

  • An 88th Precinct officer told The Nabe Tuesday that there are still no suspects or arrests connected with Friday night’s shooting that killed Jahmal Isaac Page, 21, and Anthony Earl-Govon, 22, on the Myrtle Avenue side of Fort Greene Park. The Brooklyn Paper spoke to some locals who said the shooting is reminiscent of the violence that shook the nabe and the borough in decades past. “It’s Brooklyn,” Fort Greene Park goer Domenick Propati told the paper. “Depending on how long you’ve lived in Brooklyn, that’s what you expect.” But residents added that the violence won’t drive them out of the nabe.
  • The Brooklyn Academy of Music’s seven-story Fisher building, located at 321 Ashland Place between Lafayette Avenue and Hanson Place, has received the LEED Gold Certification for New Construction, Commercial Property Executive reported. The recognition honors BAM’s efforts to create an energy-conserving world-class arts venue, according to the website. Eco-friendly features at BAM Fisher include a 40-plus percent reduction in water consumption, a system that reduces its greenhouse gas emissions by 22 percent and a 1,400-square-foot green rooftop that is home to native plants.
  • Check out the Myrtle Avenue Farm Stand on the northeast corner of North Portland and Myrtle Avenues, open today until 3 p.m. Today’s selections at the stand are the ingredients for a Salsa Verde – tomatillos, serranos, onions, cilantro and garlic – all provided by Nolasco Farm in New Jersey, Myrtle Minutes reported. The stand will be open every Wednesday until Oct. 28.
  • The Village Voice has some good news for beer lovers: The third annual Brooklyn Pour craft beer festival is coming to Skylight One Hanson on Oct. 21, and you can take advantage of an opportunity to register for early access. If you subscribe to the Voice’s dining newsletter by tonight, you can use your code to purchase tickets by noon on Friday. The event, which costs $50 for general admission, includes unlimited beer, a souvenir glass and lots of onsite entertainment. An $80 VIP ticket will grant you early access from 2 to 3 p.m., some complimentary food, a gift bag and entrance to the VIP lounge featuring a private bar.
