As the weekend nears, prepare for some serious activity at the Barclays Center — Beyoncé will swoop in for three performances from Aug. 3 to 5 as part of her summer tour, The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour. Silverstone Development Group informed residents that construction will begin early next week on a seven-story, 232-unit, mixed-use building on Myrtle Avenue, DNAinfo reported. Some locals feel the project is happening on too short notice, leaving them alienated from the development process, the site reported. The new development will take up two blocks on Myrtle Avenue between Hall and Ryerson Streets.
Now there’s yet another way to go crazy over summertime green markets, beyond shopping at Myrtle Avenue Community-Run Farm Stand or dining at new farm-to-table restaurant Martha. Brooklyn Brewery just unveiled a new beer called Greenmarket Wheat, brewed from 70 percent New York State-grown wheat and barley. Fortunately you’ll have an easy spot to stock up on this craft brew, because local wine store the Greene Grape wrote in a blog post, “We’ll be carrying this one for a long time.”
Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal, a dance group that fuses classical ballet and modern styles, will present a three-part program this evening in Prospect Park: Benjamin Millepied’s Closer, Wen Wei Wang’s Night Box, and Barak Marshall’s Harry. The performance is free (with a suggested $3 donation), and will start at 8 p.m. in the Prospect Park Bandshell. Doors open at 7 p.m.
