Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

You might need your umbrella today, with predictions of rain through the afternoon, but at least you can use it to meet your neighbors during an after-work wine tasting at Gnarly Vines, Myrtle Minutes reported. The tasting, happening between 5 and 8 p.m. at 350 Myrtle Avenue, will feature four sustainably-produced wines that the store says are perfect for any occasion.

  • If you’re planning your weekend early, you might want to pencil some time for Afropunk Fest on Saturday and Sunday. But if you want to get the fun started early, don’t miss Afropunk Afterdark at the Kumble Theater on Friday at 6 p.m. The pre-festival event, which costs $15 at the door, includes a screening of “Finding the Funk”, a documentary by local historian Nelson George, as well as a pre-film reception and post-film Q&A.
  • For those of you who want to spend part of your weekend  wandering the aisles of the Brooklyn Flea, there are lots of vintage fashion deals to be found, according to the Flea’s blog. The “Flea Fashion Redux” post points out everything from a $700 Levi Strauss & Co. jean jacket from the 1930s, to blue boy shorts for $20, illustrating that there’s a little bit of something for everyone at the weekend institution.
  • State Supreme Court Justice Carolyn Demarest, the same judge who previously ordered SUNY Downstate to operate Long Island College Hospital at full capacity, ruled this week that attempting to close the hospital is a “clear violation” of its commitment to keep it open, PIX 11 reported. As a result, the judge ordered the hospital be taken out of SUNY’s control and be returned to its previous owner, Continuum Health Partners. But CHP says it cannot take over LICH right now.
