Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

Friday was the first day of summer and it sure felt like it in the nabe this weekend. Today will be a scorcher, with temperatures in the low 90s. The city’s Office of Emergency Management has issued a heat advisory for today until 6 p.m. tomorrow. Try to stay in the air conditioning if you can, and visit a local cooling center if you need some relief.

Some of you enjoyed a musical kick-off to summer on Friday with Make Music New York, a free city-wide music festival with many performances right here in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill. If you haven’t already, check out our live coverage of the event. We’ll also have a video wrap of the performances, so be sure to check back.

Whether you listened to live music or spent the weekend another way, we hope you submit your photos to The Nabe’s Flickr group.

Following a series of complaints about Club Touché on Washington Avenue between Park and Flushing Avenue – gunshots, knifeplay and loitering, to name a few – the State Liquor Authority has refused to renew the establishment’s liquor license, DNAinfo reported. “Club Touché’s liquor license expires on Aug. 31 and as it stands, it will not be renewed and they will get a fine,” Captain Scott Henderson of the 88th Precinct told the website. “This was the result of a cooperative effort between the community and the precinct.” The SLA came to the decision after police made a case that there was a strong connection between the club and crime, Henderson told DNAinfo.
  • As we reported last week, The Department of Transportation will continue its street work in the nabe. Starting tomorrow, the department will begin milling – or removing the top layer of asphalt – on Washington Avenue, from Park Avenue to Fulton Street. If you’ve parked your car on any of these streets, remember to move it to another block. If your car is still there when the DOT begins work, it will be relocated within three blocks. If your car is relocated, the DOT recommends calling (718) 222-7285.
  • La Caye Restaurant on Lafayette Avenue will hold Kreyol Korner, an evening of spoken word, tomorrow from 8 to 10 p.m. Natalie K. Paul, who recently appeared on NBC’s Smash and Cry Old Kingdom at the Humana Theater Festival, will perform at the event. Writer, professor and public speaker Jeffrey Dessources, also known as “MrJeffDess,” will host the evening.
  • A website called Moving to NYC 101 reported that the border where Clinton Hill and Bedford-Stuyvesant meet is the second most affordable place to live in Brooklyn. On the border between the two neighborhoods, new residents “will find luxury buildings or renovated apartments that are relatively affordable, and close to prime Brooklyn,” according to the site.
