The Day: G Train Shutdowns, a Heat Advisory and July Events at the Barclays Center
Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.
Hopefully you all had a great Fourth of July and are gearing up for an even better Saturday and Sunday. How are you spending your holiday weekend, locals? If you head out to Fort Greene Park to enjoy the summer weather, don’t forget to take photos and upload them to The Nabe’s Flickr group.
For those of you looking to use the G train this weekend, keep in mind that subway service will be partially shut down for Hurricane Sandy repairs. The Greenpoint Avenue, 21 Street and Court Square stops will close and be replaced by two shuttle bus routes that link with the Nassau Avenue G station, via Manhattan Avenue, and the Lorimer Street L station, via McGuinness Boulevard. For more information and updates on the 12 weekend shutdowns, visit the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s website.- The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for the area that will remain in effect until 8 p.m. Saturday. Heat index values are expected to be in the mid to upper 90s, with the hottest conditions during the afternoon today and tomorrow. If you don’t have air conditioning, make sure you check out a cooling center in the nabe.
- The Barclays Center just announced its July calendar, according to the Atlantic Yards Report. Events include a Further concert, a night of Monday Night Raw wrestling and Cirque Du Soleil. Will you be attending any of these events, locals?
