The Day: A New Mural, a Piano Concert in the Park and Brooklynettes Auditions

The weather is perfect today, so we recommend getting out into the nabe if you can. If you’d like to see the mural pictured above being worked on, take a stroll by the Greene Hill School. Barbara Frailey, Greene Hill’s education director, said work continues tomorrow morning at 9:30 on the mural, which she called an “abstract composition” that all of the school’s 93 students have helped paint and design.

Here’s more events happening in The Nabe this week:

• Thinking about marriage? Get a fictional view of the tradition at Greenlight Bookstore, which hosts a launch party at 7:30 this evening for Brooklyn author J. Courtney Sullivan’s new novel, “The Engagements.” The book imagines four couples who tie the knot, one sans wedding, for different reasons.
• BirdFlew Studios will stage a Pop-Up Piano Concert near the northeast entrance to Fort Greene Park tomorrow at 6 p.m., Myrtle Minutes reported. Composer Ken McQueen, singer Sonia Carrion, rockers Black Bear Tribe and songwriters Ramon & Dylan will play on Rob Baird’s colorful Sing for Hope Piano. Baird also made the cover art for Ramon & Dylan’s recent album, “Elephant Walk”.
• The Brooklyn Nets’ dancers, the Brooklynettes, are holding open auditions this Saturday at noon and The Brooklyn Paper has a list of requirements. If you’re a woman who’s been dancing for eight years or more and you’re willing to fit the ‘Nettes image, head to the Long Island University Brooklyn recreation center. Doors open at 11 a.m.
