Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

Expect sweltering temperatures this week, with temperatures in the mid-to-high 90s and heat indexes around 100 degrees. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory lasting until midnight Wednesday, with the highest indexes expected tomorrow afternoon and early evening. If you can, stay in air conditioned places or visit a cooling center in the nabe.

  • The Department of Transportation will pave some neighborhood streets this week. Tomorrow, Thursday and Friday, paving will take place on Washington Avenue from Park Avenue to Fulton Street. On Friday, the department will also pave streets on Irving Place from Gates Avenue to Fulton Street. If you’ve parked your car on any of these streets, remember to move it to another block. If your car is still there when the DOT begins work, it will be relocated within three blocks. If your car is relocated, the DOT recommends calling (718) 222-7285.
  • A recent city health department inspection indicates that The General Greene on DeKalb Avenue near Clermont Avenue is now rodent-free, DNAinfo reported. An inspection earlier this year found that the popular Fort Greene eatery had “evidence of mice” and “filth flies or food/refuse/sewage-associated flies.” The restaurant still has a C grade, the lowest rating for a Fort Greene eatery, the website reported. Poorly refrigerated food and “food not protected from potential source of contamination” are the current health concerns at the restaurant.
  • News 12 Brooklyn covered the Fulton Area Businesses Alliance’s FAB Friday event at Fowler Square last week. The event – an assortment of free community activities – brought a pop-up library, an art exhibit and kid-friendly fun to the nabe, the station reported. Be sure to check out the next FAB Friday, which will be held on Aug. 9.
  • Looking for some live music in the nabe? Grammy nominated vocalist, songwriter and producer Bilal and DJ Spinna, who have been tapped by artists ranging from Michael Jackson to Eminem, will perform at Fort Greene Park’s Myrtle Lawn tomorrow night from 6 to 9 p.m.
