The Day: A Community Garden, FAB Friday and a Local Tennis Tournament

Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

There’s a lot going on in the neighborhood this weekend, though be sure to take an umbrella, since the National Weather Service predicts a chance of thunderstorms over the next few days. Whatever you end up doing, take pictures and remember to upload them to The Nabe’s Flickr group.

  • Have a green thumb? Love American history? The Fort Greene Park Conservancy invites you to come get your hands dirty at the Revolutionary War-themed community garden this Saturday between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Be sure to RSPV for your spot to help this garden grow.
  • The Fulton Area Businesses Alliance is hosting another FAB Friday on Fowler Square today, kicking off at 2:30 p.m. with a pop-up kid’s reading room. The evening will end with a free live concert featuring Arin Maya at 6 p.m.
  • The Fort Greene Tennis Association is holding its Fifth Annual Addison Steadman Memorial singles tournament on July 20, 21, 27 and 28 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
 The entrance fee is $20, but players are invited to contribute more, as proceeds go towards improving and maintaining the courts. To enter, email msbrownstein@gmail.com.
