The Cortelyou Road Taco Truck Is Back!

Welcome back to the Gonzalez family! They’re back selling tacos (and more) out of a truck parked on Cortelyou Road at East 16th Street after a crazy few months — their original Tacos Mexico cart was stolen one night in January, then was discovered by the patriarch of the family, remade into a halal cart, in February.

Yesterday neighbor Eric Cova told us he’d had a sighting, then last night neighbor Noah Apple confirmed, sending us this photo, and adding that they’ll be there, in a different cart for now, with the tacos we’ve come to love, as well as milkshakes (perfect for a 90-degree day, right?). He adds:

The original cart was found, but its ownership is being contested in court. It is currently in possession someone who owns a fleet of carts, who doesn’t have any records of ownership (vin #, registration etc).

They’ll be out there Monday through Friday in the afternoons-evenings, so be on the lookout!
