GrowNYC’s Bensonhurst Greenmarket will return to 18th Avenue this Sunday, June 7, from 9am – 4pm. Look out for free cooking demonstrations and family-friendly activities at market every Sunday, through November 22.

Located at 18th Avenue between 81st and 82nd Streets, the market will add a new vendor this year: Haywoods Fresh from Columbia County, which will sell beef, pork, chicken and eggs plus milk, yogurt, and butter purchased from Ronnybrook Dairy Farm.

Other vendors returning this year include Williams Fruit Farm from Ulster County, Kernan Farms from Cumberland County, and Nature’s Way Farm from Chemung County.

GrowNYC’s Greenmarkets work to preserve local farmland, while ensuring that New Yorkers across all five boroughs have access to fresh, healthy food grown right here in our region. A central component of Greenmarket’s mission and operations is product integrity: Everything sold at market is 100 percent farmer grown, produced, caught, or foraged.

In addition to operating farmers markets, Greenmarket works to improve the health of all New Yorkers with a suite of food access strategies aimed at getting the healthiest, freshest food into the hands that need it most. And apparently their efforts have paid off! The Bensonhurst Market won the Slow Foods NYC’s Snail Award for providing increased access to sustainable and high-quality foods in the area twice in two years.

WIC checks, EBT cards, and credit cards will be accepted at the market. Visit the Bensonhurst Greenmarket webpage for up-to-date information on at-market activities throughout the season.
